Sunnhemp is an important tropical legume producing stem fibre of commercial importance. It is also used in green manuring and has a good potential as a biofuel crop. Breeding in sunnhemp is seriously impeded due to its self-incompatibility nature. Genomic resources in sunnhemp are scarce to study this self-incompatibility barrier. An RNA-seq analysis from unopened flower buds of SUN-053 cultivar was performed using Illumina NextSeq platform in order to identify genes related to self-incompatibility and discovery of EST-SSR markers.

太阳麻（Sunnhemp）是一类具备重要商业应用价值的热带豆科纤维植物，其产出的茎纤维具有显著经济价值。该作物既可作为绿肥使用，同时也具备开发为生物燃料作物的良好潜力。然而，太阳麻的育种工作因其自交不亲和(self-incompatibility)特性而受到严重制约。目前，太阳麻的基因组资源相对匮乏，难以对该自交不亲和障碍开展深入研究。本研究采用因美纳（Illumina）NextSeq测序平台，对SUN-053品种的未开放花蕾进行了RNA-seq分析，旨在鉴定与自交不亲和相关的基因，并发掘EST-SSR标记。
