NRS-4481 | Glass negatives

These photographs were taken by officers of the Government Printing Office during the years c.1870-c.1920.The photographs cover a wide variety of subjects, for example, public buildings, railways, tramways, street scenes, harbour views, Sydney University, groups of people, ships, public occasions, the Botanic Gardens, military camps, wharves, dams and waterways, statues and slums.Details of related records (including prints) for some of these photographs can be found at NRS 4482-4487.State Archives has copied a number of the glass negatives. Each image that has been produced is numbered in one sequence for reference purposes. A preliminary list of the copies is available. The majority of the glass negatives have no titles. The identification of the subject of the copies is incomplete with many copies having no identification. The identification may not be correct.The following copies have been produced:Same size prints taken from the glass negatives, c.1890-c.1920 (4/8585-98, 4/8599B-8679). c.1,900 prints.Contact prints taken from glass negatives, c.1890-c.1920 (COD121A & B). 2 vols.Aperture card negatives, c.1890-c.1920. c.2,100 aperture cards.Viewing positive microfilm copies of glass negatives, c.1890-c.1920 (SR Reels 2787, 2546-47, 2643). 4 reels (35 mm).

本数据集收录的照片拍摄于约1870年至1920年间，拍摄者为政府印刷局（Government Printing Office）职员。这批照片涵盖极为丰富的题材范畴，包括公共建筑、铁路、有轨电车线路、街景、海港景观、悉尼大学、集体合影、船舶、公共活动、植物园、军营、码头、水坝与航道、雕塑及贫民窟等。部分照片的相关记录（含冲印样片）详情可查阅档号NRS 4482-4487。州档案馆（State Archives）已对部分玻璃底片进行复制。所有生成的复制影像均按统一序列编号，以供检索参考。目前可获取该批复制件的初步清单。绝大多数玻璃底片未标注标题，复制件的题材标注并不完整，大量复制件未附带任何题材标识，且现有标注内容亦可能存在误差。现已生成以下复制件：基于玻璃底片冲印的同尺寸照片，制作时间约为1890年至1920年（档号：4/8585-98、4/8599B-8679），共计约1900张；基于玻璃底片制作的接触印相照片，制作时间约为1890年至1920年（档号：COD121A及B），共2卷；孔径卡底片（aperture card negatives），制作时间约为1890年至1920年，共计约2100张孔径卡；玻璃底片的正片缩微胶卷复制件，制作时间约为1890年至1920年（档号：SR胶卷2787、2546-47、2643），共4卷35毫米胶卷。
