Shown is an ant that is presented a large food item. It grasps immediately the booty and starts its homing journey in backward locomotion. The ant also drops the load and performs foodless search loops that are directed towards the fictive nest site. Note that the early performed foodless search loops tend to be even much shorter in length and time than the two foodless search loops seen in this video.
