Variability across different strains of Aedes albopictus

This project investigates the polymorphism of different sets of genes in the genome of Aedes albopictus (the Asian tiger mosquito), an important arboviral vector, in different strains. In particular, the variability of the Piwi genes was compared to the variability of slow-evolving and fast-evolving genes to shed light on the evolution of the former genes, which are now considered an important component of the antiviral defences of Aedes albopictus.

本研究针对作为重要虫媒病毒媒介的白纹伊蚊（Aedes albopictus，又称亚洲虎蚊）的不同品系基因组内多组基因的多态性展开探究。具体而言，本研究将Piwi基因（Piwi genes）的变异水平与进化缓慢基因及进化快速基因的变异水平进行对比，以阐明Piwi基因的演化规律；目前Piwi基因已被认定为白纹伊蚊抗病毒防御系统的关键组成部分。
