Occupation situation, career course and judgement on the situation at
the colleges from the view of instructors.
Topics: 1. Instructing activity and instructing situation: type and
extent of instructing activity in current semester; primary or
part-time instructing activity; subjects taught; begin of instructing
activity after conclusion of course of study and type of interruptions
of instructing activity; requirements of college instructors; number of
hours of preparation and evaluation for courses conducted and number of
participants in current semester; type of support by colleagues;
decision-making responsibility in establishing courses available;
entitlement to conduct examinations; general characterization of the
situation in field of specialization (scale); assumed reasons for
lengthening time of studies by students.
2. Occupation data and career course: current and earlier designations
of office; current functions at the college; examinations passed,
according to type of examination and type of college; type and number
of appointments rejected and accepted.
3. Financial and retirement situation: public employee and salary
group; proportion of income from college activity in total income;
number of colleagues to whom authorized to issue directives.
4. College reform and co-determination in self-administration
committees: general attitude to college reform (scale); attitude to
establishing assistent professor positions in one´s own field of
specialization; attitude to introduction of polytechnics and a
federally uniform college organization law; personal membership in
co-determination committees and other organizations; judgement on the
distribution of co-determination rights and the voting behavior of the
´others qualified as post-doctoral university lecturers´; boycott
behavior of certain groups in co-determination committees.
5. General political and college policy attitudes: personal interest
in college policy questions; attitude to political college groups;
preferred measures to cover an increased need for instructors and
personal willingness to increase service; attitude to radicals in the
civil service; party preference.
Demography: age; sex; marital status; number of children; school
education; vocational training; occupation; professional position;
professional career; income; social origins.
Interviewer rating: willingness of respondent to cooperate.
