The oral microbiome is linked to oral and systemic health, but its fluctuation under frequent daily activities remains elusive. We sampled saliva at an unprecedented frequency to track the microbiome dynamics in response to human activities. We identified specific bacteria responding to eating activity in a temporal order (see qiita study ID 14062). Here, to test the reproducibility of the microbial patterns from a large time scale, we additionally collected saliva samples from subject MA for another 1.5 days. The microbial eating-increased, eating-decreased and temporal patterns were all repeated in this separate dataset.

口腔微生物组(oral microbiome)与口腔及全身健康息息相关,但频繁日常活动下其波动规律仍未明晰。本研究以前所未有的采样频率采集唾液样本,以追踪人体活动响应下的微生物组动态变化过程。我们已按时间顺序鉴定出响应进食活动的特定细菌(详见qiita研究ID 14062)。为验证大时间尺度下获取的微生物特征模式的可重复性,本研究额外采集了受试者MA连续1.5天的唾液样本。进食丰度升高、进食丰度降低及时间特征模式均在该独立数据集中得到了重复验证。
