Laboratory #3: Distance Based. Elron Oscar
The experiment took place at York University on Friday, October 3rd 2014, from 2:30-4:30. The weather was approximately 5 degrees Celsius with rain and strong breeze. The experiment was conducted at York University woodlot area on the south side of York closer to Keele Street. For this experiment, it was done with Mahal Annes, Enrique Sapena Ventura , and Yu Xiao. For grasslands and the woodlot area, 5 transect measuring tape was placed randomly. About 20 meters of transect tape was randomly placed. When walking down the transect line, we recorded the number of birds spotted and the species of the birds. The birds can be identified with a bird guide book, if unable to identify put "unknown species". If not bird was spotted, put "none". Binoculars were used to get a better accuracy of what the species of birds may be. Approximation was for determining how far the bird was relative to where the transect measuring tape is placed. The wind speed was measured under a categorical scale called Beaufort Scales.
