The ability to detect language errors quickly is fundamental to the provision of oral corrective feedback (OCF) in language teaching. While much research has been conducted on the evaluation of language samples by native and nonnative speakers, no studies exist in which items are presented in auditory format, under time pressure, and spoken by learners, all of which are representative of the conditions under which teachers typically monitor learner output and provide OCF. This exploratory study investigates the degree of uniformity in accuracy, response time, and judgement confidence among L1 (N = 178) and L2 (N = 55) teacher-trainees, all participants in a TESOL Certificate teacher-training course, in two auditory, timed grammaticality judgement tasks: the first (TGJT1) presenting sentences read by a native speaker of English, the second (TGJT2) presenting sentences read by English learners. Data collected via online interface: https://www.comsem.net/error-recognition/ 11,413 individual judgements collected; "confidence" data missing for some participants (3293 judgements total).
