METHODS Based on the CNKI database, research literature related to international medical students was screened, with the time period limited to 2015-2025, and imported into CiteSpace for visual analysis.RESULTS A total of 1,981 articles were included. The medical education system for international students demonstrated two key time points. Research on the education system and teaching models for international students has remained a research hotspot, while discipline education and ideological and political education in the curriculum have emerged as new research hotspots.CONCLUSION The research on the education system for international medical students in China has achieved considerable development, showing the transformation characteristics of diversification, practicalization, internationalization, and localization. However, it is still in the exploration stage, and further in-depth research and exploration, optimization of the education system, improvement of the teaching staff, and refinement of the management mechanism are still required.OBEJECTIVE To review the current status and development trends of medical education for international students, laying a foundation for cultivating medical talents who are both adapted to the Chinese medical environment and meet international standards.
