The spreadsheet is accompanied by a 8,500 word introduction (pdf), which includes a general explanation of the transcription process and the editorial conventions adopted. There is also a discussion of how the document was dated, its accountants and of the peculiar arrangements that stemmed from the grants to Arnald Trussell.
