Metagenomics vs. total RNA sequencing: comparing most accurate data-processing tools, microbial identification accuracy, and implications for freshwater assessments

Metagenomics and total RNA sequencing (total RNA-Seq) have the potential to improve the taxonomic identification of diverse microbial communities, which could allow for the incorporation of microbes into routine freshwater assessments. We tested both approaches on a microbial mock community and compared their accuracy as well as the impact of commonly used data-processing tools on the accuracy.宏基因组学（Metagenomics）与总RNA测序（total RNA-Seq）有望提升多样微生物群落的分类学鉴定精度，进而可将微生物纳入常规淡水评估体系。我们针对微生物模拟群落测试了这两种测序方法，并对比了二者的鉴定准确性，以及常用数据处理工具对该准确性的影响。
