Codling moth female abdomen tip RNA-sequencing
The objective was to conduct a transcriptomic analysis of chemosensory genes expressed in female codling moth, Cydia pomonella, abdomen tip tissue, which contains the phermone gland/ovipositor complex. Semiochemicals are used extensively to control codling moth with odorants that manipulate their behaviors, but this strategy largely targets male moths and their chemosensory systems. In this study, we sought to learn more about the chemosensory genes that are prominent in females that might be important in mediating female-specific behaviors such as egg-laying.
