This FAIRsharing record describes: The BioSamples Database uses the SampleTab file format for submissions. This is a tab-delimited file that can be created in many spreadsheet editing software packages (e.g. Microsoft Excel). Although SampleTab files can have some advanced features, they can be written by users from a wide range of backgrounds using tools they are already familiar with. The SampleTab format has a number of advanced features for power users, such as ontology mappings, anonymous groups, and UTF-8 character encoding. Although this format is still accepted, the administrators of the BioSamples Database recommend that all submissions to BioSamples be made in JSON via our JSON API.
