Experiment Description A total of five group members were involved with this lab and it had taken place on Oct, 14 2015 and Oct, 21, 2015. The members of this group had gone towards the east end of the lake, and the area towards the edge of the lake facing the school was marked as 0meters. A majority of this lab occurred on unmowed grasslands and a small area had consisted of mowed grasslands. This lab consisted of placing a total of 36 pan traps which were filled a quarter of the way with soapy water along a transect line near the lake, and the traps were of three different colors yellow, blue and white. They were placed randomly 1 meter apart laterally along a preset transect line of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 meters. A total of 6 traps were set up along each interval with 2 traps of each color A prediction earlier made was the closer the pan traps are to the lake, a greater abundance in the number of species will be seen within the traps. The lab had taken place on Oct 14, 2015 and the temperature was a moderate 13 degrees Celsius and data was collected on this day and more data was collected on Oct, 21, 2015 the temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. After placing the pan traps along the transect, a waiting period of 90 minutes had taken place before any recordings of the data had taken place. This involved counting the insects found within the traps, also the total number of plant species along the transect line were counted A hypothesis for this lab is the closer the pan traps are located toward the lake, a greater amount of animal species will be found within the pan traps and this is due mainly to abiotic interactions such as temperature and sunlight.
本实验共有5名实验人员参与,分别于2015年10月14日与2015年10月21日开展。实验小组以面向校园的湖岸边缘区域作为0米基准点,采样区域延伸至湖的东端。本次实验的采样区域以未修剪草地为主,仅小范围区域为修剪草坪。沿湖岸预设样带共布设36个颜色盘诱捕器(pan traps),诱捕器内注入四分之一容量的肥皂水,分为黄、蓝、白三种颜色。诱捕器沿预设的0、5、10、15、20、25米样带横向以1米间距随机布设;每个采样区间内布设6个诱捕器,每种颜色各2个。实验前期提出预测:诱捕器越靠近湖岸,其捕获的物种丰富度越高。2015年10月14日完成首次数据采集,当日气温为13摄氏度,环境温度适中;2015年10月21日完成第二次数据采集,当日气温约为10摄氏度。诱捕器布设完成后,需静置90分钟再开展数据记录,内容包括诱捕器内捕获的昆虫数量,以及样带沿线的植物物种总数。本实验的研究假设为:诱捕器越靠近湖岸,其捕获的动物物种数量越多,该假设主要基于温度、光照等非生物因子的交互作用提出。
