In order to develop novel therapeutics for drug-resistant A. baumannii or new control measures in hospital settings, it is important to understand the genomic context of A. baumannii strains associated with their phenotypes, especially antimicrobial resistance, pathogenic mechanisms, and epidemicity in the hospital environment. We selected two clinical A. baumannii strains, KBN10P01317 and KBN10P01599, from a Korean hospital, which exhibited the same sequence type (ST) and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles, but exhibited different ability to form biofilms and survive bacteria under dry surface . The comparative genomic features of two A. baumannii strains originated from the same clone will explain the different phenotypic characteristics, which will provide valuable insights into combating A. baumannii infection.

为研发针对耐药鲍曼不动杆菌(A. baumannii)的新型治疗方案,或是制定医院院内环境的新型防控策略,明确鲍曼不动杆菌菌株表型相关的基因组背景尤为关键——这些表型具体涵盖抗菌耐药性、致病机制以及医院环境中的传播流行性。本研究从韩国某医院分离得到两株临床鲍曼不动杆菌菌株KBN10P01317与KBN10P01599,二者具有完全一致的序列型(ST)与抗菌药物敏感性谱,但形成生物膜的能力以及在干燥表面的存活能力存在显著差异。本研究中两株同源克隆鲍曼不动杆菌菌株的比较基因组学特征,将为解析二者的表型差异提供依据,同时可为对抗鲍曼不动杆菌感染的相关研究提供宝贵的参考思路。
