Genome sequence of the chimpanzee malaria parasite Plasmodium reichenowi. Plasmodium reichenowi strain:CDC

To understand the evolution of the human malaria Plasmodium falciparum, we have sequenced and assembled the genome of its close relative P. reichenowi. Using comparative genomics we have characterized major differences between the species, particularly highlighting those involved in host adaptation.

为解析致人疟疾的恶性疟原虫（Plasmodium falciparum）的演化历程，我们对其近缘物种里氏疟原虫（P. reichenowi）的基因组完成了测序与组装。本研究借助比较基因组学方法，对两物种间的主要差异开展了表征分析，尤其聚焦于与宿主适应性相关的差异特征。
