Native Land Digital strives to map Indigenous lands in a way that changes, challenges, and improves the way people see history and the present day. We hope to strengthen the spiritual bonds that people have with the land, its people, and its meaning. This territories data layer is provided by Native Land Digital and is automatically updated weekly on Sunday with data from the Native Land Digital API. Intended use: The intended use of this layer is to provide general geographic context about Indigenous territories and support education, exploration, and mapping applications that seek to better understand Indigenous relationships with land. Limitations of use: This map does not represent or intend to represent official or legal boundaries of any Indigenous nations and should not be used to establish definitive territorial boundaries, land ownership, jurisdiction, or legal claims. To learn about definitive boundaries, contact the nations in question. The map is a work in progress and may contain incomplete, approximate, or inaccurate information. Vintage: The data is refreshed weekly on Sunday and reflects the latest information available through the Native Land Digital API at the time of each refresh. Native Land Digital is a Canadian not-for-profit organization, incorporated in December 2018. Native Land Digital is Indigenous-led, with an Indigenous Executive Director and majority Indigenous Board of Directors who oversee and direct the organization. Numerous non-Indigenous people also contribute as members of the Advisory Council. The Board of Directors governs finances, sets priorities, and appoints staff members as required.
