The focus of the study was to comprehend parents’ and teachers’ understanding and practices of play and learning for young children using a qualitative case study research design. Case study research was adopted in the study being the best design for approaching the primary question. Convenient purposive sampling was used, selecting six parents and four teachers from middle-income areas around Pretoria as participants. Data was collected from participants using an open-ended qualitative questionnaire/telephonic interviews. The data analysis used was thematic analysis by highlighting emerging themes and subthemes, allowing the researcher to formulate findings. The study incorporated several aspects to ensure trustworthiness: transferability, credibility, authenticity, conformability and dependability.
本研究采用质性个案研究设计,旨在探析家长与教师对幼儿游戏与学习的认知及实践情况。本研究选用个案研究范式,因其为解答核心研究问题的最优设计方案。本研究采用便利型目的性抽样方法,从比勒陀利亚周边中等收入区域选取6名家长与4名教师作为研究参与者。研究通过开放式质性问卷及电话访谈的方式收集研究参与者的数据资料。本研究采用主题分析法开展数据分析,通过识别研究中涌现的主题与子主题,辅助研究人员形成研究结论。为保障研究可信性,本研究从可迁移性、可信度、真实性、吻合性与可靠性五大维度纳入多项保障举措。
