Esys-Escript is a programming tool for implementing mathematical models in python using the finite element method (FEM). As users do not access the data tructures it is very easy to use and scripts can run on desktop computers as well as highly parallel supercomputer without changes. Application areas for escript include earth mantle convection, geophysical inversion, earthquakes, porous media flow, reactive transport, plate subduction, erosion, and tsunamis.

Esys-Escript 是一款可在Python环境中借助有限元法（Finite Element Method，FEM）实现数学模型的编程工具。由于用户无需接触底层数据结构，该工具极易上手，且其所编写的脚本可无需修改即可在桌面计算机与高并行超级计算机上运行。Esys-Escript的应用领域涵盖地幔对流、地球物理反演、地震、多孔介质流动、反应输运、板块俯冲、侵蚀作用以及海啸。
