An ontology is a formal representation of a set of concepts within a specific discipline and the relationship between those concepts. It provides a shared and controlled vocabulary that can be used to develop the phenotype hierarchy structure of different crops. In this context, the activities of the Crop Ontology Community at the International Potato Center consist of developing ontologies for potatoes. The potato ontology was increased, adding the abiotic stress characteristics of this crop. Apart from the existing ontologies at the crop-ontology page.
