Apollo is one of the most important and complex of the Olympian deities in classical Greek andRoman religion and Greek and Roman mythology. The ideal of thekouros (a beardless, athletic youth), Apollo has been variously recognized as a god of music, truth and prophecy, healing, the sun and light, plague, poetry, and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and has a twin sister, the chaste huntress Artemis. Apollo is known in Greek-influenced Etruscan mythology as Apulu. Aristide Joseph Bonaventure Maillol was a French sculptor, painter, and printmaker. This is an interesting sculpture by Maillol as the majority of his sculptures depicted women. This sculpture of Apollo is placed beside Jeanette (also uploaded on MyMiniFactory). This object is part of Scan The World. Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to find out how you can help.
