天山一号冰川属双支冰斗山谷冰川、长2.2公里、平均宽度500米、面积1.828平方公里、最大厚度140米、最高点海拔4476米、年均运动速度约5米、冰舌末端海拔3734米、雪线平均高度为4055米、朝向东北、主流呈“S”型。冰川全年物质平衡为零之线。此线之上冰川的年积累大于年消融、此线之下冰川的年消融大于年积累。冰川物质平衡水平指冰川的总积累量与总消融量的平均值、它反映冰川在总水量平衡中的作用、表征冰川变化的动态。本数据集为乌鲁木齐河源1号冰川1958-1995年物质平衡平衡线数据。

Glacier No.1 of the Tianshan Mountains is a double-branch cirque-valley glacier. It stretches 2.2 km in length, with an average width of 500 m and a total area of 1.828 km², and has a maximum thickness of 140 m. The highest elevation of the glacier reaches 4476 m a.s.l., with an annual average movement speed of approximately 5 m·a⁻¹. The terminus of its glacier tongue sits at an elevation of 3734 m a.s.l., while the average equilibrium line altitude (ELA) — the snow line — is 4055 m a.s.l. The glacier is oriented northeast, and its main trunk follows an "S" shape. There exists an annual mass balance equilibrium line for the glacier: above this line, the glacier's annual accumulation exceeds its annual ablation, whereas below this line, the annual ablation outweighs the annual accumulation. The mass balance level of a glacier refers to the average value of its total annual accumulation and total annual ablation, which reflects the glacier's role in the regional water balance and characterizes the dynamic variations of the glacier. This dataset provides the mass balance equilibrium line data of Glacier No.1 at the headwaters of the Urumqi River from 1958 to 1995.
