Preliminary Report on Vertebrate Faunal Remains from the Ojo Bonito Archaeological Project

Excavations conducted by the Ojo Bonito Archaeological Project (OBAP) in 1987, 1988, and 1994 have recovered a relatively large and well-preserved faunal assemblage. This report presents the results of a preliminary study ofthe animal bone from these excavations. In the first part of analysis, an overview of the taxonomic composition of the OBAP assemblage is provided and the diversity and proportional distribution of identified fauna are described. More in-depth analyses of intra- and intersite assemblage variability are then undertaken in order to assess spatial and temporal differences in faunal procurement and utilization. These analyses are followed by a brief discussion of the various types ofcultural modification observed in the OBAP assemblage.

1987年、1988年及1994年由奥霍·博尼托考古项目（Ojo Bonito Archaeological Project, OBAP）开展的发掘工作，出土了体量较大且保存完好的动物群组合。本报告呈现了上述发掘出土动物骨骼的初步研究成果。分析的第一部分将概述OBAP出土动物群组合的分类学构成，并阐述已鉴定动物类群的多样性及其比例分布情况。随后将开展针对遗址内及遗址间遗存组合变异性的深入分析，以评估动物资源获取与利用在空间与时间维度上的差异。上述分析之后，将简要讨论OBAP出土动物群组合中所观测到的各类文化改造痕迹。
