Recent research on riverbed sediment has revealed a high abundance of bacteria harboured in it, which can be resuspended and cause a large outbreak. However, the detection and molecular characterisation of pathogenic parasitic protozoa such as Cryptosporidium spp. in freshwater sediment are scarce. Therefore, this current study deciphered the prevalence, occurrence, genetic characterisation and diversity of Cryptosporidium spp. in river water and its sediment.

已有河床沉积物相关研究表明,该基质中寄居有大量可经再悬浮作用引发大规模暴发疫情的细菌。然而,目前针对淡水沉积物中隐孢子虫(Cryptosporidium spp.)这类致病性寄生原生动物的检测与分子特征分析研究仍较为匮乏。鉴于此,本研究针对河水及其沉积物样本中的隐孢子虫,解析了其流行率、检出情况、遗传特征及物种多样性。
