USE OF ABBREVIATIONS IN ENGLISH

This article scientifically analyzes the linguistic features of abbreviations in English, their main types, and the features of their use in modern speech. During the study, abbreviations in English were studied morphologically and semantically, and their functional role in the communicative process was determined. The features of the use of abbreviations in scientific, official, and everyday speech were also analyzed.本文对英语缩略语（abbreviation）的语言特征、主要类别及其在现代语体中的使用特点开展了科学分析。研究过程中，本文从形态学与语义学层面对英语缩略语展开研究，并明确了其在交际过程中的功能作用。此外，本文还分析了英语缩略语在科技、公务及日常语体中的使用特征。
