Gli studi di Donato Valli sulla scuola carducciana salentina

The purpose of this essay aims not only at reconstructing the studies' map of Donato Valli about Salentine literature in the second half of the 19th century, with a particular sight on the poetic school infused with Giosue Carducci, but also at the rediscovery of a line of research which, in the Valli's boundless bibliography, runs the risk of being considered less important than the prevalent notes on the contemporary literature. Beyond the salentine origin, Valli was influenced by Dionisotti, Macrì, Marti in his sharp interest in regional literary production, revealing how an author as Carducci, who never held southern poets of Italy in high esteem, gathered many disciples just in the Salentine Peninsula. Among them Valli deeply studied the triad made up of Ampolo, Nutricati and Gigli, whose works often reflected a rich poetic world, very complex and not completely flattened up the bard's model and style.
