Marine organic carbon experiment

The ocean interior holds ~700 gigatons of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and specifically, the impact of human activities on the reservoir of DOC in the ocean is unclear. Hence, the goal of this investigation was to evaluate how DOC, manifested as simple alcohols and organic acids, influences the microbial communities in both benthic and pelagic environments within a controlled microcosm experiment.

海洋内部储存有约700吉吨的溶解有机碳（Dissolved Organic Carbon, DOC），目前人类活动对海洋溶解有机碳储库的影响尚不明确。因此，本研究旨在通过受控微宇宙实验，评估以简单醇类和有机酸形式存在的DOC对底栖与浮游环境中微生物群落的影响。
