Video documentation of an optical wireless data transmission experiment between The Lighthouse, Glasgow, and the Livingstone Tower, Glasgow. The transmitter was a blue light-emitting diode (LED) with a digitally interfaced complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) driver and placed on the viewing platform of The Lighthouse. The receiver was a CMOS single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) chip located on the top floor of the Livingstone Tower. Both, transmitter and receiver used simple lens optics of approximately 1 inch diameter. Data were transmitted error free (i.e. with a bit error rate below the detection limit of 1e-5) at a data rate of 20 Mb/s. The video contains photographic and video footage of the experiment as well as visualisations of the geographic location created in Google Earth. The background music is from http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Thanks go to The Lighthouse for enabling access to their viewing platform.
