Multimodal classification of herbarium specimen IDs using VIS-NIR-SWIR reflectance spectroscopy and RGB images

We present a dataset curated for the 2026 OSU Imageomics Florapalooza Team "HypeRGB". We tested multiple approaches to specimen ID by developing unimodal and multimodal models to integrate RGB images and VIS-NIR-SWIR hyperspectral reflectance spectra of herbarium specimens. The reflectance spectra were obtained from White et al. (2026) (https://doi.org/10.1111/nph.70357), and matching RGB images were obtained from GBIF URLs compiled by the HERBSHARE Explorer (herbshare.org). Specific details regarding the contents of the datset are available in the README.md file.
