SepsOMICS

Sepsis is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. We isolated the bacteria from the blood of patients presenting to the emergency department at a major hospital in Oslo, Norway with symptoms of suspected sepsis. Our collection consists of approximately 700 bacterial isolates belonging to the most common species that cause blood stream infections. Using comparative genomics, we aim to better understand the contribution of the bacterial genetics to the burden of blood stream infections and ultimately sepsis in humans.
