THE BRAZILIAN GUIANA, FROM THE PERIPHERY TO THE CENTER

ABSTRACT In spite of its similarities with Northern neighbours, the Brazilian Far North was not perceived as belonging to this unit, but often as a remote periphery, given up or left in reserve. But the recent changes, in particular the opening of new roads towards toward the north, part of a new development policy, quickly changes the area and, while introducing strong internal differences there and integrates it more closely with the Guyanas.

摘要：尽管巴西北部偏远地区与北部邻国存在诸多相似之处，但它始终未被视作该区域的组成部分，反而常被视为一处偏远的边缘地带，要么被弃置荒废，要么被划为保留区域。然而近期的变革，尤其是作为新发展政策组成部分的通往北部的新道路开通，迅速重塑了这片区域的格局：它不仅在当地催生了显著的内部发展差异，还使其与圭亚那地区的联系愈发紧密。
