The consumption of spaces is defined by the Climate and Resilience Act (Article 194): “consumption of natural, agricultural and forestry areas shall be understood as the creation or effective extension of urbanised areas in the territory concerned”. Each soil can be defined according to its use. Among these, there are four main types of uses, namely artificialised, natural, agricultural and forestry soils. Artificialisation is therefore defined as the transition from natural, agricultural or forestry soil to artificialised soil. The stated objective of the Biodiversity Plan is to provide annual figures and a fine line of this phenomenon and according to a homogeneous methodology across the territory. It is therefore necessary to look, among the available data, for a source capable of answering this question. In this context, the only source that can meet this need is the Land Files, which cover the period 2009-2020. Land Files do not have data on space consumption on their own. A specific treatment of the raw data is therefore necessary.
