The second best choice in habitat selection of antlion larvae (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae)

We studied habitat selection by larvae of two antlion species, Euroleon nostras and Myrmeleon formicarius, concerning the size of sand grain and moisture. The choice of optimal grain size is known in both species, but it remains unknown how larvae choose when the optimal substrate is unavailable.

本研究围绕两种蚁狮（antlion）的幼虫——欧洲蚁狮（Euroleon nostras）与Myrmeleon formicarius——的生境选择行为展开探究，考察其对沙粒粒径与基质湿度的偏好。目前学界已明确这两个物种对最优沙粒粒径的选择规律，但当最优基质无法获取时，幼虫将采取何种选择策略，这一问题仍有待解答。
