This study aimed to analyze the incidence of azoospermia factor a (AZFa) microdeletions in the Y chromosome and their association with male infertility in a population with azoospermia and severe oligozoospermia from Iraq. In this study, the partial AZFa microdeletions were more numerous than complete AZFa deletions. According to our results, the AZFa microdeletions might be associated with male infertility and spermatogenic failure. It is recommended to investigate the AZFa sub-region microdeletions in patients that have shown AZFa microdeletions in primary screening.本研究旨在分析伊拉克无精子症及重度少精子症人群中Y染色体无精子因子a（azoospermia factor a, AZFa）微缺失的发生率及其与男性不育的关联。本研究中，部分AZFa微缺失的检出数量多于完全性AZFa缺失。根据本研究结果，AZFa微缺失可能与男性不育及生精功能障碍存在关联。建议对初筛中检出AZFa微缺失的患者开展AZFa亚区域微缺失的进一步检测。
