Metagenomic analysis of the rhizosphere of the seagrass Zostera marina

This project aimed at investigating the diversity, structure and gene content of bacterial communities involved in dissimilatory sulfur cycling in the rhizosphere of Zostera marina. By using shotgun metagenomic sequencing of rhizosphere samples collected in Portugal and France, we could also reconstruct and characterize high quality draft genomes, which contributed to the understanding of the potential metabolic versatility of microbes that inhabit the rhizosphere of seagrasses.本研究旨在探究鳗草（Zostera marina）根际参与异化硫循环的细菌群落的多样性、群落结构与基因组成。通过对葡萄牙与法国采集的根际样本进行鸟枪法宏基因组测序（shotgun metagenomic sequencing），本研究还完成了高质量草图基因组的重构与表征，这有助于深化对海草根际栖息微生物潜在代谢多功能性的认知。
