Zebrafish pou5f3 regulates various developmental processes, including neurogenesis and brain formation. We used microarrays to detail the global program of gene expression regulating isthmus development around the end of gastrulation. To this aim, we employed transgenic (Tg) embryos harboring a heat-inducible dominant-interference pou5f3 gene (en-pou5f3) that functionally suppresses pou5f3 (Tg(hsp-en-pou5f3)). en-pou5f3 was induced by heat shock in Tg embryos at 90% epiboly or 3-somite stage (3-ss). The transcriptomes were compared on Affymetrix microarrays to know the gene profiles specific to each developmental stage.
