Child-Minding in Odense, 1979

The survey was originally carried out for the Public Assistance and Health Administrative Department (Social- og Sundhedsforvaltningen) in Odense in 1979. #The purpose of the survey is to describe and analyse: #1) factors determining the demand for child-minding facilities, #2) factors influencing the probability of having one's wishes realized as regards child-minding facilities, #3) how the children are minded, whether or not the municipal child-minding facilities in existence are used. In connection with this, descriptions of preferred child-minding facilities are included. #4) the range of alternative child-minding facilities which might substitute or complement existing child-minding facilities. #The survey describes the child-minding facilities in the municipality of Odense for three age groups: 1) infants aged 0 to 2, 2) 3 to 5-year-olds, and 3) 6 to 10-year-olds; and for each of these 3 age groups the survey describes: #1) play facilities, #2) how the children are minded, #3) number of hours the child-minding facilities are needed, #4) child-minding expenses, #5) the realization of preferences as regards child-minding, #6) applications and refusals to have one's child minded, #7) preferred child-minding facility and willingness to pay. #In addition, the survey includes information concerning occupation, education, income and housing conditions
