Canadian Gallup Poll, July 1988, #807_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly social and political issues. The questions ask opinions on the issue stance of Canada's political leaders, the cost benefit ratio of the services provided by government and corruption in Canadian federal politics. There are also questions on other topics of interest such as the propriety of interracial and interreligious marriages, mandatory military service at age 18 and homeownership among young Canadians. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic, political and social variables. Topics of interest include: a cost benefit evaluation of different governmental services; interracial marriage; interreligious marriage; issue alignment with Canada's political leaders; Canada U.S.A relations; bank charges; the next federal election and predictions of its outcome; mandatory military service at age 18; political corruption in Ottawa; ratings of Brian Mulroney; ratings of Ronald Regan; reasons for vote choice; and young people affording to own their own homes. Basic demographic variables are also included.
