The main focus of this study is to investigate the prokaryotic and viral components and their interactions within the soil of inland wetlands. My research’s aim is to bring new insights of how viral infections potentially affect the metabolism of prokaryotes involved in greenhouse gas production and indeed how viruses might be considered the key players that drive the biogeochemical cycle dynamics.
