Collection of visual core description (VCD) sheets (hand drawn originals and digital representations) and lithologic composite plots from the above given hole of International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 386 (Japan Trench Paleoseismology). VCD was performed on unsampled archive halves of split cores, directly after linescan imaging, during the onshore phase of expedition 386, which took place between 2022-02-14 – 2022-03-15 onboard D/V Chikyu. The lithology of each core section is represented on the hand drawn VCDs by graphic patterns next to the X-ray CT image of the archive-half core section. Further, a wide variety of features that characterize the sediment are indicated in additional columns. The information from the hand-drawn VCD sheets was then transferred into the Drilling Information System database (s. also datasets "Description of lithologic section units of IODP Hole 386-M0083A"), from where it could be accessed semi-automated to produce digital lithologic columns and composite plots using Strater (Golden Software).For further methodological information see methods chapter in Strasser, M. et al., 2023 https://doi.org/10.14379/iodp.proc.386.102.2023

本数据集包含国际大洋发现计划(International Ocean Discovery Program, IODP)第386航次(日本海沟古地震学航次)指定钻孔的岩心目视描述(visual core description, VCD)记录表(含手绘原稿与数字化副本)以及岩性综合图件。该航次的VCD工作于2022年2月14日至3月15日的航次陆上阶段在‘地球号’(D/V Chikyu)深海钻探船上开展,操作对象为劈开岩心的未采样保存半段,且紧邻岩心线扫描成像步骤完成。每份岩心段的岩性信息通过其保存半段的X射线计算机断层扫描(X-ray CT)图像旁的图形图案,在手绘VCD记录表中进行标注;此外,沉积物各类特征的表征信息亦列于附加列中。手绘VCD记录表中的信息随后被录入钻井信息系统(Drilling Information System)数据库(亦可参阅数据集"IODP 386-M0083A钻孔岩性剖面单元描述"),通过该数据库可半自动调用相关信息,并借助Strater软件(Golden Software公司)生成数字化岩性柱状图与综合图件。更多方法学细节请参阅Strasser M等人2023年发表的研究章节,链接:https://doi.org/10.14379/iodp.proc.386.102.2023
