It is a highly efficient nitrogen-fixing strain that can be used in field soybean production and taxonomic studies of rhizobia. It is a small rod-shaped, Gram-negative bacterium. Its colonies are circular, 3–5 mm in diameter, rich in mucus, with a milky white or translucent appearance. It can form symbiotic associations with soybean to generate root nodules, where the strain develops into bacteroids and carries out symbiotic nitrogen fixation. This strain is facultatively aerobic, with an optimal growth temperature of 28°C.
