Civilian Control Scores Version 1

These files contain country-year civilian control scores, 1945-2010. These scores were generated from two latent variable models, one static and the other dynamic. While both incorporate information from a series of indicators on military involvement in regime politics, the static scores only account for institutional features at the outset of each observed year, while the dynamic measure incorporates information from a regime's history of civil-military relations into the estimation procedure. The file contains the posterior mean and standard deviation from each model for each country-year. Additional information on the indicators and modeling procedure are located in the associated publication. The files provided here are for users interested in summary civilian control scores.
