Sorghum is an important agricultural crop in many parts of the world, primarily due to its superior tolerance to arid and salinity edaphic conditions. Although extensive studies have been conducted on imprinting in maize, including identification of imprinted genes, expression patterns of the genes, and their epigenetic regulatory underpinnings, no information is available about imprinted genes in sorghum. Here, we conducted deep RNA-seq-based genome-wide screening of imprinted genes in sorghum endosperm for identifying sorghum-specific imprinted genes and exploring the expression patterns of imprinted genes in relation to parent-or-origin effect and allele-differential DNA methylation.

高粱(Sorghum)是全球多数地区的重要农作物,其核心价值在于对干旱与盐渍化土壤环境具备优异的耐受能力。尽管针对玉米的基因组印记(imprinting)已开展大量研究,涵盖印记基因的鉴定、相关基因的表达模式及其表观遗传调控机制,但目前尚无关于高粱印记基因的相关研究报道。本研究通过基于深度RNA测序(deep RNA-seq)的全基因组筛选手段,对高粱胚乳中的印记基因进行了深度挖掘,旨在鉴定高粱特异性印记基因,并探究印记基因的表达模式与亲本起源效应及等位基因差异DNA甲基化之间的内在关联。
