THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PAIR WORK AND GROUP WORK IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

This article discusses the effectiveness of pair work and group work in English language teaching. In modern language education, students need more opportunities to communicate, share ideas, and use English in meaningful situations. Pair and group activities help learners become more active in the classroom and reduce fear of speaking. These methods also support cooperation, confidence, critical thinking, and communicative competence. During pair work, students can practice dialogues, ask and answer questions, and correct each other’s mistakes. In group work, learners can complete projects, discuss topics, solve problems, and prepare presentations together.本文探讨了结对学习（pair work）与小组合作学习（group work）在英语教学中的应用成效。在现代语言教育领域，学生亟需更多能够在真实情境中开展交流、分享观点并运用英语的机会。结对与小组活动能够帮助学习者在课堂中提升参与积极性，缓解其口语表达的畏难情绪。此类教学模式还有助于培养学习者的合作精神、自信心、批判性思维以及交际能力（communicative competence）。在结对学习环节中，学生可通过练习对话、互问互答以及相互纠正语言错误进行实践锻炼；而在小组合作学习环节，学习者则可共同完成项目课题、研讨主题议题、解决实际问题并协同准备展示汇报（presentations）。
