We augmented two midgut genes of the malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae to secrete the exogenous antimicrobial peptides Magainin 2 and Melittin, and to enable non-autonomous gene drive via an intronic guide RNA. To assess the splicing efficiency of the artificial intron, we performed sequencing of the cDNA amplicon over the splice site.
