To compare the transcriptional profile in aged kidneys lacking tubular Cpt1a with floxed littermate controls. Overall design: All mice were males and on a mixed background. Kidneys were either from mice that had Cpt1a deleted specifically in renal tubules (crossing Cpt1a floxed mice with Pax8-rTTA;tetO-Cre, which will be called Cpt1aCKO) or floxed controls. They had been treated for 3 weeks with doxycycline to activate Cre at age5-8 weeks.
