Importance of Photosynthetic Symbionts in Sponges

Data was collected on the biogeography and biodiversity of photosynthetic symbionts of marine sponges in Australia. From 2000, sponges from around Australia were sampled using a Diving PAM (pulse-amplitude modulation), molecular analyses and classical taxonomy to quantify the abundance of photosynthetic symbionts in sponges, particularly in temperate Western Australian waters.本数据集收录了澳大利亚海洋海绵光合共生体的生物地理学与生物多样性相关研究数据。自2000年起，研究人员借助潜水式脉冲振幅调制（Diving Pulse-Amplitude Modulation, Diving PAM）技术、分子分析手段与经典分类学方法，对澳大利亚周边海域的海绵开展采样工作，以量化海绵体内光合共生体的丰度，研究尤其聚焦于西澳大利亚温带海域。
