Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Mill Place, Mill Lane, Toot Hill, Essex, May 2017

This collection consists of images, a vector graphic, spreadsheet, and site record data from an archaeological evaluation carried out by Archaeology South-East. Work occurred on land at Mill Place, Mill Lane, Toot Hill, Essex, in May 2017. No archaeological remains of significance were identified. In particular, there was no evidence for any features associated with either the postulated hundred moot-hill or the post-medieval mill mound. Limited evidence for post-medieval to modern agricultural activity was recorded, in the form of disturbed subsoil, a plough mark and a ceramic field drain. Given the lack of archaeological remains demonstrated by the evaluation it is considered that the proposed development will have a negligible impact on the heritage resource of this location.
