Earthquakes and rainstorms are the most prevalent landslides triggers. However, the characteristic differences between the earthquake- and rainstorm-induced landslides are unclear, which makes it difficult to distinguish the landslide triggers, thus reducing the efficiency of landslide prevention. Here, we collect twelve typical cases of earthquake- and rainstorm-induced landslides from around the world,and quantitatively analyze the geometric characteristics and location distribution of the two types of landslides. We find that earthquake-induced landslides are larger in size and more compact, rounded, and complex in shape than rainstorm-induced landslides. The compactness and major axis of earthquake-induced landslides show a negative correlation in logarithmic function form, while they show a negative correlation in exponential form of rainstorm-induced landslides.Earthquake-induced landslides are predominantly clustered near the ridges, whereas rainstorm-induced landslides are predominantly clustered near the valleys.This experiment indicates that landslides with the same triggers exhibit similar geometric characteristics and location distribution. Our work provides a valuable reference for the classification of landslide triggers and helps to improve the efficiency of landslide prevention and risk assessments.

地震与暴雨是最为常见的滑坡(landslide)触发因素。然而,地震诱发滑坡与暴雨诱发滑坡的特征差异尚不明确,这导致滑坡触发类型难以区分,进而降低了滑坡防灾效率。本研究从全球范围内收集了12组地震诱发滑坡与暴雨诱发滑坡的典型案例,定量分析了两类滑坡的几何特征与空间分布规律。研究发现,相较于暴雨诱发滑坡,地震诱发滑坡的规模更大,形态更紧凑、圆润且复杂。地震诱发滑坡的紧凑度与主轴长度呈对数函数形式的负相关关系,而暴雨诱发滑坡的该二者则呈指数函数形式的负相关关系。地震诱发滑坡多集中分布于山脊附近,而暴雨诱发滑坡则主要聚集于山谷区域。本研究结果表明,同一触发类型的滑坡具有相似的几何特征与空间分布特征。本研究可为滑坡触发类型的判别提供重要参考,同时有助于提升滑坡防灾与风险评估的效率。
