RESEARCH BACKGROUND
The research in my art practice, which is primarily painting based, but multi-disciplinary in expression, is concerned with the spaces between unconsidered and recognized historical art motifs discovered in the everyday noticing of familiar objects as time passes and how that contributes to the contexualisation of a personal identity in a social realm.
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION
The artwork seeks to contribute identifying a heightened, almost surreal, sense of looking at the world that may occur if one is aware of the history of art and its relationship to mythology. All my art research is the result of the proposition that there exists an integration of complex personal, geographic, societal and historical identities that occur when we choose to look at anything, including art.
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE
The inclusion of this painting by the committee in this exhibition of 37 artists, selected fom 400 entries, was important in that by it's very inclusion it became part of the aim of the exhibition, as expressed in the press statement, which was to include art through which the viewer is left to find their own place within a complex complex narrative and to examine the nature of the unconscious.
(RESEARCH BACKGROUND)
(RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION)
(RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE)
